Your profile is the data the matching engine uses to find opportunities for you. The richer and more current it is, the better your matches. Open it from <span data-setting-path="Profile & Settings → Profile"></span>.

What's on your profile

• Name & title — used in inbox messages and outreach. Academic prefixes (Dr., Prof.) are stripped from your display name automatically.
• Department / org unit — drives unit-scoped match notifications.
• Research areas — short tags that describe your domain.
• Expertise — finer-grained terms used in matching.
• ORCID — connect to pull your publication record.
• CV — upload a PDF; the system extracts expertise and prior funding from it.

Manual edits are protected

Anything you edit by hand is preserved against future re-enrichment. If you correct a research area or remove an expertise term, the system won't silently overwrite it the next time your profile is re-enriched.

What feeds matching

1. Research areas (you).
2. Expertise (you, plus terms extracted from CV/ORCID).
3. Publications (ORCID).
4. Prior funding (CV / institutional records).
5. Eligibility signals (career stage, institution type).

Privacy

Your profile is visible to RD staff at your institution and to leadership in aggregate. It is not shared with other customers.
