Faculty enrichment & ORCID
How faculty profiles are built and how to trigger enrichment.

Faculty profiles in CONVERGE are a blend of what the user enters themselves, what their institution provides, and what the system derives from publication and CV data. Enrichment is the automated side of that work.
Source priority
- ORCID — highest trust. When connected, it drives the publication record.
- Uploaded CV — parsed by AI to extract expertise and prior funding.
- Institutional roster — provides identity, department, and title.
- Manual edits — protected against future re-enrichment.
Manual edits win
If a faculty member corrects a research area or removes an expertise term, that edit is preserved. Re-enrichment will not silently overwrite it.
Triggering enrichment
- On-demand from the faculty profile page in Signal.
- Bulk from Clubhouse data tools.
- Scheduled as part of the nightly refresh.
What it costs
Enrichment uses an AI gateway and is metered. Incremental processing only enriches profiles that have actually changed, which keeps ongoing cost low. Full re-enrichment of a department is logged in Clubhouse under Data History.
Validation
ORCID identifiers are validated against the live ORCID registry before being saved to the profile. Invalid IDs surface as a warning on the profile rather than silently breaking enrichment.
