Managing your CONVERGE account

What you're qualified to apply to

How your location and applicant types decide which programs you see.

Updated 9/19/2026

CONVERGE filters out programs you could not submit to, so your list stays realistic.

The two eligibility fields

  • State / location — many state and foundation programs are limited by geography.
  • Applicant types — for example: individual, small business, nonprofit, higher-education institution, government. Sponsors state which of these may apply.

Both live in Profile & Settings → Profile. Update them and save; your matches are recalculated against the new eligibility immediately.

What you'll see on a match

  • Programs you clearly qualify for appear normally.
  • Programs with limits you don't meet are filtered out, or flagged with a restriction notice so you know why they're borderline.

Restriction notices are a Build, not a verdict

They're based on the sponsor's published eligibility language, which is sometimes broader in practice — for instance, applying through a partner organization. Always read the sponsor's own eligibility section before ruling a program in or out.

Applying is a separate step

Your responses in CONVERGE are for your own tracking and to train your matching. They don't start an application. To apply, follow the sponsor's formal application process and work with your research support or research administration office, following any organizational or institutional procedures.
