Who we are
CONVERGE Research Intelligence ("CONVERGE", "we", "us") is the seller of the CONVERGE service and the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at support@convergeri.com.
Personal data we collect and why
- Account and identity data (name, academic title, department, institution, email address, login credentials, ORCID iD where you provide it) — to create and secure your account and provide the service. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Research profile data (research interests, expertise areas, publications, uploaded CVs or documents, funding history you enter or approve) — to generate funding matches and fit analysis. Legal basis: contract performance.
- Usage and telemetry data (pages viewed, features used, matches opened, saved or shared, login times, session activity) — to operate, secure, and improve the service, and to report aggregate engagement to an institutional customer where your access is provided by that institution. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Device and technical data (IP address, browser and device identifiers, log data) — for security, fraud prevention, and diagnostics. Legal basis: legitimate interests and legal obligation.
- Support and communications data (messages, support requests, feedback, bug reports and attached screenshots) — to respond to you and improve the product. Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interests.
- Marketing preferences (email digest and notification settings) — to send the updates you ask for. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Payment card details are never collected or stored by us. Purchases are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record, under its own privacy notice.
Public research data
CONVERGE also processes publicly available research and funding information (for example public grant awards, publication records, and public researcher profiles) to build matches and institutional insights. Where that information relates to you, the categories, purposes, and rights described in this notice apply.
Who we share data with
- Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring, and AI processing providers acting on our instructions.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of memberships, subscription management, payments, invoicing, and tax compliance.
- Your institution, where your access is provided through an institutional subscription — limited to profile and engagement information relevant to that subscription.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
- Authorities where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
We do not sell personal data.
International transfers
We operate from the United States and our providers may process data there. Where data is transferred from the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an applicable adequacy decision.
Retention
We keep account, profile, and subscription-related data for as long as your account is active and for up to 24 months afterwards, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, or accounting purposes. Usage and log data is typically retained for up to 24 months. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of or objection to processing, and portability, and you may withdraw consent for marketing at any time. UK/EEA residents may also complain to their supervisory authority. Email support@convergeri.com and we will respond within one month.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, hashed credentials, role-based access controls, row-level database security, and audit logging of administrative activity.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your interface preferences, and limited first-party analytics to understand feature usage. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though sign-in will not work without the essential ones.
Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated by email or in the application.
